Using Search and Property Detail on Tax Sale Compass

How guest research and Premium active inventory work on Tax Sale Compass — without unlocking active detail for non-Premium users.

Two research modes

Guest research (inactive detail + search)

As a guest you can:

• Use search (search.php) to find listings on file, subject to any guest rate limits the product applies
• Open inactive property detail pages at property.php?id=… for sales that are completed, cancelled, or otherwise not open

Inactive detail is for learning patterns: which municipalities post, what fields appear on notices, how status changes over time, and how minimum amounts (often tied to arrears and costs — a common below-market research angle) are presented.

Premium (active inventory)

Active inventory detail stays Premium-gated. Premium is for people who need current open or upcoming sales and related Premium tools. Current Premium pricing, when stated on the membership page, is 9.99 Canadian dollars per month or 99.90 Canadian dollars per year (confirm on-site at publish).

Guest access to search and inactive detail is how the public research surface works.

What you will see on a property detail page

Fields vary with what the municipality published and what we captured, and may include:

• Municipality and province
• Status (active, sold, inactive, withdrawn)
• Sale or tender dates when known
• Minimum amounts when the municipality printed them
• Links or references toward the municipal source when available

If a field is blank, we did not have a reliable value — not a promise that the municipality omitted it forever.

Printed minimums can support below-market research; they still require verification and are not a profit guarantee. For redemption and process timing, read the municipal notice — Compass fields summarize what we captured, not the full statute.

Practical examples

• Researching an inactive Alberta tender from a small municipality (for example Beiseker or Rainbow Lake) can show how sealed-tender fields appear.
• Researching Ontario or Nova Scotia inactive rows (for example Trent Hills, Annapolis County, or Halifax) can show auction-oriented fields.
• Greenview or Edmonton rows, when present, illustrate larger or district-scale Alberta files.

Always remember: status can change after the daily update.

What search is for

• Guarantee that an active listing remains open until auction day
• Guarantee below-market resale profit
