How sales work

Compass is not the auctioneer. The municipality is. Compass lists the sale and does not run it. Under the Municipal Government Act (section 152(1)) and, in Halifax, the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter (section 167(1)), the owner may redeem within six months after the sale, except that no right of redemption exists where taxes on the land were in arrears for more than six years at the time of sale.
